Liberty Christian School (LCS) was founded in September of 1980. The school started with a total of 30 students in a pre-kindergarten class and a kindergarten class, both located on the lower level of the church facility. The K-5 teacher also served as the administrator.
In 1981, LCS added first grade, which was housed in the block building beside the church. However, the school grew quickly and needed more space. Modular classrooms, purchased from Franklin Square Hospital, were added to accommodate the growing student body. These classrooms were set upon a permanent foundation, and the school classrooms officially moved from the church building to their own separate quarters.
Another grade level was added with each consecutive year until 1989, when the school reached its current K – 8th grades. A lower school wing housing eight new classrooms, a media center, a faculty lounge and the Family Center/Gym, was completed in 1990.
More numerical growth took place along with the expansion of the overall ministry. From 1994 – 2001, God provided the means to build six new classrooms with a fully furnished science lab, lavatories, another teacher’s lounge and a middle school resource room, for the middle school.
The Middle School building expansion freed up previous classroom space, allowing LCS to create a state of the art computer classroom. It is always kept up to date with cutting edge technology, equipment and instruction.
